4 in 5 'Satisfied' With Their Jobs
Most workers in the UK are satisfied with their jobs, research shows, providing encouraging news for jobseekers.
Jobseekers in the UK can take heart from a recent survey of British workers which has found that nearly four in five are satisfied with their jobs.
The research, carried out by the Work Foundation, found that 78 per cent of the UK workforce were either "very satisfied" or "quite satisfied" with their current employment, with less than nine per cent saying that their job was "meaningless" to them.
A total of 1,089 full and part-time employees were questioned for the survey, which also found that over half of British workers felt stimulated and challenged in their job.
Commenting on the findings, Work Foundation chief executive Will Hutton said that jobs in the UK were increasingly being seen as much more than just an "economic necessity", with money becoming only one of several important factors in what makes a good job.
"The wage packet still matters, but there are crucially important psychological, social, and personal dividends from work, too – it is about money and meaning," he said.
