Call Centres Come Back To Wales

Wales looks set to benefit from more businesses opting for home call centres over offshored operations.

Wales is set to benefit from a significant growth in the call centre industry, as previously offshored operations are moved back to the UK.

According to reports, customer dissatisfaction with call centres based abroad in locations such as India has convinced many companies to return home.

And Wales is the region that looks to benefit the most from this decision, according to icWales, with businesses looking to add the nation's already established £400 million-a-year call centre industry.

"Although the headline cost of outsourcing operations overseas can, on the surface, appear to be low, this new report identifies other important underlying factors, which businesses and organisations need to add to the equation in order to gain a true picture of the cost of offshoring," commented Sandra Busby, managing director of the Welsh Contact Centre Forum, according to icWales.

"These other factors include high staff attrition and absenteeism rates and adverse domestic customer reaction."
