Firms 'should explore talent pool during recession'
Firms should be exploring the growing talent pool available to them during the recession, one expert has advised.
According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), now is a good time for firms to reassess who they are hiring and make the most of the increasing number of people looking for work.
A number of female celebs have been rumoured to fill Britton's boots, with the Duchess of York the latest possible candidate to enter the arena.
"The Duchess came in to see the team and later that evening she called back to ask if she could be kept in mind for Fern's replacement," a source told The Sun.
"She is a big fan of the show and is keen to carry on her TV work. She loves interviewing. As a mum, she is empathetic. The producers think she could actually be a good contender."
The CIPD's comments follow an employment study conducted by Badenoch & Clark, which found that the UK is home to a nation of undervalued employees with firms ignoring the basics of talent management.
It found that in the 16 to 24 age bracket nearly half of employees feel undervalued, with the banking and financial services market home to the highest levels of discontent.
Vanessa Robinson, head of HR practice development at the CIPD, said: "What we are seeing is there is more talent on the market and actually one thing in times like this, for companies who are still hiring, is it's a good time to look at what talent there is in other places.
"That's not saying that people are replaceable generically, what it's saying is that employers can choose those people who they think are most talented and make sure that they are in a position to have the resources and staff that they think will contribute the best in these particular circumstances and going forward too."
According to the Sun, Fergie believes she is the best perfect person for Fern's job after shooting two TV documentaries.
The red-headed royal is also reportedly keen to work alongside Fern's current co-hest Philip Schofield, who will remain in the position.
