Hospitality Sector 'Is Richest'

Now is a good time to get into the hospitality or catering sector, with the latest research showing many top earners involved in these professions.

Getting a job in catering or hospitality could be the best career move you ever make, according to the latest careers research.

According to the result of the 'vocational rich list' from City and Guilds, you are more likely to amass your fortune in a hospitality or catering job compared with any other job sector.

In the list of the UK's richest people, it was found of those whose fortunes are based on craft skills, owners of hotel chains and television chefs came out on top, with Trevor Hemmings, the owner of Blackpool Tower as well as a leading hotel chain the leading hospitality worker.

Contract caterer Robyn Jones also came in as the 28th richest, with a £15 million fortune.

Other top earners included celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver, who are worth an estimated £35 million and £25 million respectively – both amassing their fortunes out of their vocational catering careers.

Job seekers are therefore encouraged to consider a new career in these service industries if they want to emulate the success of some of the UK's richest self-made men and women.
