IT Vacancies Rise In Second Quarter
IT vacancies in the UK have rose by almost 50 per cent in the second quarter of this year, the latest analyst figures show.
According to the Computer People/ Mandis Index (CPMi), the number of available positions in the IT sector during the second quarter stood at 7,246, compared with only 4,888 over the first quarter – a rise of 48 per cent.
"The UK IT market is well on its way back up," commented Adam Fletcher, managing director of Computer People.
"Despite being slightly down on 2005 figures, 2006 looks to be a far more stable and steady market, which is good news for the sector as a whole."
He add that if growth were to continue at the same rate in the future, demand could outstrip supply by the end of the year, leading to a surplus of unfilled positions.
