After she was dropped from the Iceland frozen food commercials, it seemed a safe bet that Kerry Katona would no longer be gracing the nation's television screens.

However, anybody who got their hopes up is in for a nasty surprise as it has been revealed that the former Atomic Kitten singer and her husband Mark Croft are to star in ITV's remake of the quiz Mr & Mrs.

With ITV having enjoyed recent success with revamped shows from yesteryear thanks to the likes of Ant and Dec and Vernon Kay, who has now firmly established himself as the host of Family Fortunes, the channel now hopes it can rely upon the couple's curious relationship to give them another hit.

According to some tabloid sources, the pair are hoping that their forthcoming appearance on the show will put an end to rumours that their marriage is a 'sham' as they are made to answer intimate answers about each other to show how close they are.

Given that Kerry only married the 36-year old last year after a whirlwind romance and since then they have spent considerable time apart from each other, it seems likely that they could turn out to be one of the worst-performing teams on the new series of Mr & Mrs, even though none of the other celebrity stars due to feature have been named yet.

At present the mum-of-four and her ex-taxi driver husband are stars of their very own TV show, Crazy in Love, being shown on MTV to mixed reviews.

The show, which has already shown the husband and wife constantly bickering as well as Kerry strip and drink while pregnant, is designed to not only be the portrait of a happy marriage but also a springboard to launch "the British Britney Spears" back into the big-time.

So far, however, the critics are unimpressed and the viewers are turning off.

Writing in the Times, Caitlin Moran noted that, while Jordan had made the transition from pin-up to shrewd businesswoman, "Katona, on the other hand, comes across like a soft, woundable child on bipolar medication: permanently pregnant, sartorially unsettled, and with a dented-looking husband primarily interested in cars and shagging."

Kerry and Mark are due to appear on Mr & Mrs next month on ITV1, while Crazy in Love has several weeks left to run on MTV.
