British Drivers Dangerous Abroad

Over half of all British drivers do not make necessary preparations when driving abroad, according to a new survey.

One in seven holiday makers forget to take their vehicle insurance documents abroad with them and driving without them is illegal in most European countries, reports Saga Motor Insurance.

And it is not a small problem as over half of us choose to drive abroad, 15 per cent plan to do it in the future and insurance is vital to cover possible incidents caused by driving in a foreign country.

Nearly a quarter of Britons find driving on other side of road irritating, 15 per cent find foreign drivers exasperating, eight per cent become annoyed with children bickering in the back of the car and 37 per cent find navigating the roads the most difficult.

Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga said: "To limit the chances of getting into difficulty, people should plan their route before they leave and ask their passengers to navigate.

"Driving licences and insurance documents are compulsory for driving abroad and should be the first thing you pack."
