Check Home Insurance For Smashing Summer
Homeowners hoping to recreate the final goal of the World Cup or a stunning shot seen at Wimbeldon this summer are being advised to check their home insurance for broken window coverage.
Insurers expect an increase in broken window claims each summer as homeowners try to emulate their favourite sporting heroes with garden ball games.
World Cup fever combined with patriotic Wimbeldon and cricket fans could lead to the highest level of claims ever for the summer months, according to Halifax Home insurance.
"It's great that young and old alike are inspired by their sporting heroes but it might be safer to take ball games to the local park," said Vicky Emmott from Halifax.
"Homeowners should definitely make sure they are covered for such events. Halifax provides accidental damage of this nature as part of the standard buildings cover."
The coastal town of Southend-on-Sea tops the list for the UK place with the highest number of claims for accidental window breakage, closely followed by Ayrshire and Watford & St Albans.
