Safe Drivers Save On Insurance

Top Tips

Careful drivers could save enough on their motor insurance over a lifetime to cover the cost of a brand new car, according to the latest research.

Figures from insurance provider Privilege revealed that safer drivers - those with four or more years no claims discount - save some £10,000 on their insurance in a lifetime.

British motorists who have made fault claims over the last four years pay a national average of £510 a year in insurance compared with more careful drivers who pay a yearly average of £307.

"The research shows that safe drivers are saving thousands of pounds by staying accident free, as well as making the roads a safer place for us all," said Ian Parker from Privilege.

"The lifetime saving that safe drivers can make is further incentive for all drivers to take care when behind the wheel."

Other ways consumers can keep the cost of insurance down, according to the company, are by keeping the car in a garage or on a driveway, resisting the urge to modify their vehicle and by protecting their no claims discount.
