Scottish Towns Most Car Friendly
Motorists planning a UK trip should head up north to the Scottish cities of Dundee, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, as these are rated the most car-friendly in the country, according to new research.
Drivers looking for reasonable petrol prices, lots of low price car parks, and a low level of car crime should head to Dundee, rated the UK's most car-friendly town according to new research.
Virgin Money car insurance has compiled a list of Britain's best cities based on how they treat motorists, designed to give car owners planning a trip a guide on what to expect.
Other places in the top ten for treating motorists well include the seaside towns of Blackpool, Southend and Portsmouth.
However, drivers are warned to steer clear of Cardiff, ranked the UK's least car-friendly place, closely followed by Nottingham, Bolton and Middlesbrough.
Not surprisingly London is one city to be avoided as it is the most expensive place to park, with a two-hour stay in a car park costing on average £11, and the capital also has the most speed cameras on major routes into the city.
"Anyone who drives across the country will be familiar with the feeling that some towns just seem designed to make life difficult for motorists," said Jason Wyer-Smith from Virgin Money car insurance.
