Stung by Unwanted Guests
Homeowners are being advised to consider pest cover as wasp infestations can cost up to a hundred pounds to remove a nest, according to new research.
Homeowners are being advised to cover themselves and their property against pests or face being stung by a huge bill for their removal, according to new research.
Undisturbed wasps can achieve a population of over 25,000 during a year and they can build a nest anywhere.
The company warns homeowners to be extra vigilant and take immediate action if they find a wasps' nest in their house or garden as it could be a sign that a new nest is set to follow.
Despite a third of homeowners (33 per cent) turning to friends or family to help tackle a pest problem some still call the professionals in but with nobody regulating the industry, call out costs can range from £35 to £100.
Having cover could guarantee a homeowner a qualified pest controller at a reasonable rate to remove the problem.
"Pests in the home can cause structural damage, damage to home contents, health problems, and create fear - especially as wasp stings are occasionally responsible for violent reactions such as anaphylactic shock," said Nikki Sellers from esure.com.
"Homeowners should not delay in seeking professional advice if they notice any wasp activity - or the beginnings of a nest - in their home or garden. Never DIY, always call in the professionals but be aware that you could be stung with a hefty bill if you don't have pest cover."
