Former partner of Shannon's mother faces new charge The former partner of Shannon Matthews' mother, Craig Meehan, has denied possessing an indecent image of a young girl on his mobile phone. Mr Meehan, 22, faced the additional charge when he appeared at Dewsbury magistrates' court today. The 22-year-old is charged with possessing a picture on his phone showing a partially naked girl aged around 15. He was remanded in custody until September when he will go on trail for the charge and other alleged offences. Mr Meehan is accused of possessing 140 indecent images of children found on two computers discovered at a home in Dewsbury he previously shared with Karen Matthews for five years. Ms Matthews' daughter Shannon, nine, went missing for 24 days in February before being found hidden in a bed in a flat belonging to Mr Meehan's uncle, Michael Donovan. Mr Donovan, 39, and Ms Matthews are due to go on trial at Leeds crown court on November 11th.  23 July 2008, 14:05 |
