Get Fit to Improve Your Love Life
Regular exercise will not only help extend your life expectancy; it will also improve your love life. A 2004 survey by the online dating service Udate found that the need for romantic liaisons inspires people to exercise more. Around 25% of those polled said that they began fitness regimes to impress would-be lovers.
But why wait until you’ve met someone? Finding that perfect man or woman can take a great deal of time and energy. Both these valuable quantities can be saved if you simply start working out regularly.
You don’t have to pump iron for hours every day until you achieve the rippling physique of an Olympic swimmer or world champion boxer – but you do need to take your health seriously. The instructors at your local gym or health club will be able to advise you on a regime that best suits your body type, current level of health and daily schedule. You may also be able to get tips on diet. (Bear in mind that without regular exercise, healthy eating will have limited benefits).
Once you start to get into shape, you may well find that the possibilities for romance increase. To begin, you’ll look better than you did before and that will draw people to you (but beware of those shallow types for whom looks are all that matter). More importantly, your improved appearance will make you feel more confident – and that is a very attractive trait to other people. Plus, you’ll be more self-assured when approaching and breaking the ice with potential partners.
With improved health comes increased energy, meaning you’ll be more motivated to get out on the social scene, which will improve your chances of meeting someone. Your stamina will receive a boost, too, as you make regular trips to your gym or health club, and that will give you the motivation to work out even more and also make you able to put in the hours that successful dating sometimes requires.
Increased fitness aids restful sleep, and that means you will be more alert and able to concentrate during the day. So you’ll be more likely to spot signals from people who show interest in you, and you’ll also be better equipped to respond to their subtle advances.
Potential dates are everywhere, even your gym; so that’s another reason to work out. You can use fitness routines and suchlike to strike up conversations with other single patrons, most of whom will also be more happy and healthy than before they began their regimes.
Meeting people at social places like lidos and beaches, where being scantily clad is usually necessary, is an awkward endeavour for many would-be daters. But an improved physique and the greater self-confidence it brings will be invaluable when trying to pull in just your swimsuit.
Finally, when you do meet that special someone, you’re got a greater chance to enjoy a long relationship because your tip-top physical health will extend your life expectancy.
