Andy Murray through to Australian Open semis

By Neal Wallace

Andy Murray has reached the semi finals of the Australian Open after beating Kei Nishikori in straight sets.

The British number one had little trouble, completing a 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 win that will see him face either Novak Djokovic or David Ferrer in the last four in Melbourne.

Murray said that he was happy with his performance, but admitted that there was room for improvement before his next match on Friday.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the tie, he said that he had enjoyed himself on court with "a lot of fun points", but said that he hadn't served well throughout.

"I need to serve better. My game has been getting better each match and I am moving better and I am going to be fresh going into the weekend," he added.

Murray won his last match by default after his opponent Mikhail Kukushkin was forced to retire through injury.
