Chelsea have confirmed that they have turned down an audacious approach from Manchester City for club captain John Terry.
The big-spending Eastlands club are rumoured to be chasing a number of transfer targets this summer on the back of their new billionaire owners' substantial funds.
And Chelsea, who won the FA Cup, finished third in the Premier League and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, said they "completely rejected" the offer.
"It was made clear to City, for the second time following an approach last season, that we would not entertain any conversation on the subject [of John Terry's transfer]," the Blues' statement continues.
"At that time John also reiterated his total commitment to Chelsea.
"We would like to make clear, and will not do so again, that John is not for sale."
Terry has been club captain at Stamford Bridge for the past five seasons - leading the team to the Premier League title in his first year with the armband in 2004/05.
