Car accessories 'could lead to accidents'
Young people looking to alter their cars in order to impress their friends may first wish to think of the possible dangers such changes could bring.A spokeswoman for Admiral Group - which was launched in 1993 - has recommended those considering any add-ons should always make the safety of themselves, their passengers and other road users a priority.
The industry figure was speaking as new research from the organisation revealed the average motorist in the UK spends around £99 on accessories for their motor.
It was demonstrated that 57 per cent of those questioned have sought to personalise their vehicle with numerous additions, while drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 were found to be the most likely to have spent significant sums souping up their run-around.
The representative explained respondents were asked whether their car window stickers obscured their view, adding: "Worryingly, seven out of ten of drivers with stickers told us they think they do."
