Chelsea launch racism probe after Anton Ferdinand remarks

Police are attempting to track down fans who allegedly made racist remarks about Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea called in detectives following the club's game against Norwich yesterday (January 21st) after a comment about the incident was posted on Twitter.

Ferdinand is currently at the centre of an investigation involving alleged remarks made to him by Blues captain John Terry and the pair could come face-to-face next weekend when Chelsea play QPR.

"Chelsea Football Club is concerned to hear that a small number of fans travelling back by train from Norwich were alleged to be involved in racist chants and comment. We are working to help the relevant authorities identify those responsible and will take the strongest possible action should these allegations prove to be true," read a club statement.

It added that it "strongly believes" that all forms of discrimination are "abhorrent and have absolutely no place in society".

The alleged incident came at the end of a frustrating day for Chelsea as they endured a goalless draw against Norwich, with Fernando Torres again drawing a blank.
