Daniele de Rossi 'wanted by Man City'
By Tom Witham
Manchester City look set to make a move for Italy star Daniele de Rossi as they bid to strengthen their squad in this summer's transfer window.
Citizens chief Roberto Mancini is a long-time fan of the Roma midfielder and would love to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.
According to the Daily Mail, he is preparing to advance his interest with a concrete offer of about £20 million in order to try and tempt Roma into selling one of their prized assets.
De Rossi, 29, has been a target for City for the last 18 months and he signed a new five-year contract with his club in February.
That is sure to make it harder for City to lure him away from the Italian capital, but they undoubtedly have the cash to do so.
City have so far been quiet in the transfer market this summer, although Mancini is keen to add more strength and depth to his side as they bid to defend their Premier League title in the coming season.
