Dr Who film 'will not be Hollywood reboot'

By Neal Wallace

The planned Dr Who film will not be drastically altered for the big screen, viewers have been told.

Writer Steven Moffat Tweeted that the feature-length Hollywood version of the popular BBC TV show "would certainly not be a Hollywood reboot".

Fans had contacted Moffat after comments made by director David Yates, who said that the show would require a big transformation in order to be a success on the big screen.

He also said that the production team would have to "start from scratch", which prompted fans to fear that a new cast would be brought in.

Moffat reassured fans by tweeting: "To clarify, any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team and star the current TV Doctor".

David Yates, in an interview with Variety magazine, said that it would take "two to three years" for the film to be ready for the cinema, adding that it would take a "fresh approach" to the show.
