Driving theory test removes pre-published questions
People saving for a new car to be used once they pass their driving test may wish to step up their learning after the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) announced it will no longer use pre-published questions in its theory assessment. The organisation is hoping the move will prevent candidates from learning answers by rote and therefore enable them to gain a better understanding of the subject.
Mike Penning, road safety minister, said the process should encourage people to learn each topic area in more detail, as opposed to memorising questions and answers.
Mr Penning - who is also MP for Hemel Hempstead - stated: "The intention is to improve candidates' knowledge and understanding of driving theory, so that they are more able to retain and apply it when they are on the road."
In addition, those looking for motoring tips may be interested in a new iPhone app from the DSA, which assists users in their theory test studying and allows them to monitor their progress.
