Harry Redknapp angered by Mario Balotelli 'stamp'

By Neal Wallace

Harry Redknapp has said that Mario Balotelli should have been sent off for "blatantly" kicking Scott Parker in the head yesterday (January 22nd).

Speaking after his Tottenham side's 3-2 defeat by Manchester City, he believed that the 22-year-old, who scored the home team's dramatic last minute winner, deliberately landed on Parker's head.

Howard Webb, who was in charge, did not punish the incident, which has split the opinion of the BBC's pundits.

Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon gave Balotelli the benefit of the doubt, claiming that he was not looking at Parker as he landed, while Alan Hanson agreed with Redknapp, saying that Webb "should have given him a red card".

City had been 2-0 ahead thanks to goals from Samir Nasri and Joleon Lescott, but Spurs hit back through Jermain Defoe and a spectacular effort from Gareth Bale.

However, Redknapp was only further incensed by the fact that Balotelli was on the pitch to pick himself up and score the penalty after he was felled by Ledley King.

City retain the place at the top of the Premier League, three points ahead of rivals Manchester United.
