Istanbul 'best value option for holidaymakers'
British people looking to escape the worst of the UK's weather this winter could book a flight to Istanbul.A holiday guide from M&S Money has found the Turkish destination is the best value for money city break during these current tough economic times.
The research revealed the average cost of a trip to Istanbul, including flights, hotels and things to do, was nearly ten per cent cheaper than in 2010.
"Autumn is always a popular time for city breaks and right now, there are some great value destinations to take advantage of, thanks to lower inflation and favourable exchange rates," said Paul Stokes, the company's head of travel money.
He told holidaymakers booking in advance was the best way to save money and they should not forget extras such as holiday money or travel insurance.
According to ABTA - The Travel Association, five per cent of the British public have decided not to fly so far this year due to rising taxes.
