Kitson joins Boro on two-month loan

Middlesborough have added a second striker in as many months, as Dave Kitson joins the Teesiders on a two-month loan from Premier League side Stoke City.

Kitson has been brought into the misfiring squad to provide additional competition for places following the recent arrival of Marcus Bent, and he will be reunited at the Riverside with former Reading team-mate Leroy Lita.

After starting his career with Cambridge United, Kitson made his name with Reading, scoring 54 league goals in 111 starts before his £5.5 million move to Stoke.

Despite being the Potters' record signing, the 29-year-old has failed to live up to expectations - finding the net just twice in 25 appearances.

Strachan told the club's official website: "I'm delighted Dave is coming in to bolster the squad's numbers and give us more options.

"I've been a fan of Dave for a few years now. He is a good striker and another player for us to call on."

Kitson is expected to make his debut against Nottingham Forest, and the forward said: "I'm happy to be here and excited to be part of it.

"I'll do my best and hopefully that will be enough to keep the club in the top positions."ADNFCR-8000010-ID-19463663-ADNFCR
