Online shopping 'to go mobile'

Shoppers could soon be in a situation where they are searching to buy the latest HTC mobile phones from their portable devices.

Olly Mann, a BBC internet expert, said online shopping will continue to be popular in the future and consumers will begin to feel more confident about making purchases through their mobile browsers.

"The trend clearly for the last couple of years has been [that] people no longer feel a block [when it comes to] buying stuff on their phone," he said.

Mr Mann also stated that the boundaries between real-world shopping and ecommerce are changing.

Internet stalwarts such as eBay and Google are now setting up "pop-up" shops on the high street, he explained.

The expert said that the iPad was the last real technological advancement and it really made mobile shopping an option for many consumers.

A recent Ofcom report found that eight out of ten web users have made online shopping purchases in the UK.
