The X Factor start date confirmed

ITV have confirmed that the new series of its hit reality TV show The X Factor will be returning to screens on August 18th.

The talent contest, which aims to find the best solo act or group in the UK, is returning for its ninth season after Little Mix were crowned the victors last year.

Judges from last year Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh will all be returning to reprise their roles while Nicole Scherzinger is replacing Kelly Rowland.

Unlike in previous editions of the programme, acts that currently have or have in the past had management deals can still take part in the show.

Dermot O'Leary is also returning to present the show, while Rita Ora, Leona Lewis, Mel B and Geri Halliwell will also appear as guest judges during the series.

The first show of the new series is set to run for 75 minutes.
