Tom Watson tells Tiger Woods to 'clean up his act'
Eight-time major winner Tom Watson has told Tiger Woods he needs to 'clean up his act' and show more humility to the fans who come to watch him play.
The world number one has looked sort of form since returning to the world of golf following his break from the sport last year.
Woods took an indefinite break from golf after revelations about his private life made headlines around the world. Upon his return the American promised to show more respect to his fellow professionals and the fans, something Watson claims he has still failed to do.
"Life is more complicated now. I'm sure there are things going on in his mind that make it very difficult for him. When he is at his best he hears nothing," Watson said.
"He needs to show more humility to the fans. He has not carried the same stature as the other great players.
"His behaviour on the golf course doesn't show the respect for the game that the players who came before him have shown. It doesn't respect Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan and Nick Faldo.
"He needs to clean up his act."
Woods has yet to win a tournament since his eagerly-awaited return at the Masters in April but will be hoping to change that statistic when he travels to St Andrews for the Open Championship later this month.
