Wolves complete Halford signing

Premier League newcomers Wolves have signed versatile Sunderland defender Greg Halford on a three-year contract.

The 24-year-old, who can fill in as a midfielder as well as play at right-back and in the centre, moves to the Midlands for an undisclosed fee.

And he says he is "really excited" about the move ahead of the 2009/10 top-flight season - which is Wolves first since they were relegated at the end of the 2003/04 campaign.

"It is going to be an exciting season for the club going into the Premier League and hopefully we can push on and establish ourselves in the division," Halford told Wolves World.

"Wolves are obviously a big club and the infrastructure is all there.

"There's a great training ground, great stadium and a large fanbase and all the plans are in place for Wolves to really establish themselves."

Halford, who spent part of last season on loan to Sheffield United after falling out of favour at the Stadium of Light, is Wolves' third new signing this week - following in the footsteps of fellow new arrivals Andrew Surman and Kevin Doyle.
