New iPhone application for daters

iPhone or iPod Touch users who are seeking love received a boost on Tuesday (February 3rd) after a leading online dating provider announced a new programme for both devices.

SpeedDate.com has become the world's first dating service to offer an iPhone application which allows people to have portable, 24-hour access to millions of potential matches worldwide.

The new program can be downloaded and gives users the chance to send and receive message with other daters, including special generic flirt messages such as 'This is me making the first move…Your turn!'

Dan Abelon, co-founder of SpeedDate.com, which became the first speed dating provider when it was launched in October 2007, has explained that the technology adds another dimension to the emerging online dating scene.

"We are excited to offer the first all-access dating application for the iPhone," he said.

"We were the first site to simplify the online dating process and allow instant chemistry - not lengthy, complicated profiles - to help our members connect with each another so it makes sense that we'd also be the first to bring dating to the iPhone."

The application is completely intertwined with the company's online services, meaning members can access all their personal profile information, while also being able to keep tabs on friends and prospective dates.

People who are not already members of SpeedDate.com will be given the opportunity to commence their search for love on their mobile devices with just a simple 60-second sign up process.

The advent of the iPhone application adds to the company's existing website services, which centre around three-minute speed dates using instant messaging and live video.

Mr Abelon added that he believes that people involved in the online dating arena will appreciate having the opportunity to be more flexible in their approach to contacting potential matches.

He said: "Allowing singles to date on the go means more freedom and opportunity to make connections and find matches.

"The SpeedDate.com iPhone application simplifies one of the biggest hassles of dating, which is finding the time to connect with new singles.

"We expect that the number of dates on our website will increase as we provide new and existing SpeedDate.com users with the opportunity to make mobile love connections."

At present, SpeedDate.com has members in over 200 countries and hosts 120,000 speed dates per day across a number of platforms, such as Facebook, MySpace, Bebo and Meebo.
