Top ten tips for finding love online

Top Tips

The top ten tips listed in a new book aimed at people looking to find love through online dating were outlined in a report on Bradenton.com on Monday (February 16th).

The global economic downturn is creating a huge boom in the industry, with Match.com, for instance, reporting a 22 per cent increase in new members over the course of December.

So with that in mind, the news provider decided to give daters the best possible advice by highlighting the guidelines offered by Dr Diana Kirschner in Love in 90 Days: The Essential Guide to Finding Your Own True Love.

Firstly, daters are advised to put their quest for love at the top of their list of priorities and pursue it relentlessly, as they would with attempting to find a new job if they were out of work.

The value of using two online dating sites simultaneously is also championed, with the sensible approach described as having one well-publicised site and one which is more likely to cater to your personal interests.

Dr Kirschner picks up on the importance of profile photos and suggests that getting a friend to take 100 head shots will lead to producing one which is "especially warm, attractive and inviting".

Staying with profiles, daters are also advised to make their screen name and details quirky and unique in order to stand out from the competition, but also clever, upbeat and realistic.

Meeting and saying hello to three new people a day is put forward as another option, while dating service users are also asked to date against type as "you may be very happily surprised" by experimentation.

Furthermore, Dr Kirschner notes the importance of staying open-minded and going on a second date with a potential match if there is some sort of connection, even if you are not blown away by them.

She suggests sending a quick text or e-mail the following morning to leave the door open for a further meeting, while also mentioning something that happened which symbolised the connection made on the date.

Online dating users are also advised to see three potential matches at the same time - without having sex with any of them - to find out which ones are really interested as "the great ones will stay the course".

Finally, going "where the odds are good" for meeting people is talked up, with Dr Kirschner suggesting that signing up for two ongoing classes or activities which interest you is a good approach.
