Video streaming championed by net daters

A leading online dating provider has announced today (December 22nd) that its live video streaming service is proving to be a hit for the vast majority of its customers.

DreamMarriage.com is the top website for men who are seeking a relationship with Russian women and it recently decided to give potential matches the chance to meet face-to-face.

The move has been so well received that the company has been working to improve the site's video capabilities even further, which has naturally resulted in an attempt to attract more female participation.

Public relations manager Tim Zelmer said: "Our customers are utilising the live streaming video service to help them get to know the Russian women they are interested in better.

"The most common suggestion we receive from our customers on a regular basis is please increase the number of women available for live video chat! And that is exactly what we are doing."

Mr Zelmer explained that the online dating service is now actively encouraging the Russian girls to purchase and use webcams, while also increasing the number of live streaming rooms on offer to its members.

And while the changes are naturally appreciated by men, the company has also noted a marked increase in the number of women joining up and posting profiles and introductory video clips of themselves.

Such a surge in activity has made it essential for the website to beef up its servers as presumably no one wants to be interrupted by a technological glitch when online dating of this nature is going well.

Mr Zelmer added that the change could signal a shift in the online dating industry as a whole because it offers something far more fulfilling and real than a simple exchange of emails and photographs.

"Look, we are in the business of bringing people together for the purpose of dating, forming relationships and sometimes even marriage," he said.

"Exchanging emails and photos is all well and good, and chatting privately is great, but at some point people want the experience of getting closer to the people they are interested in.

"Live streaming video is the way to do that and, short of travelling overseas to actually meet the person, it is the closest and most intimate experience available. We believe that it is, without a doubt, the future of online dating and relationship building."

It remains to be seen whether the concept of online dating via webcam will catch on throughout the world, but it would not be surprising in an age when instant gratification is the norm.

While some will find it uncomfortable to be placed in such an intimate situation with someone they have never met before, undoubtedly others will be interested to see if they can gauge whether there is any chemistry with a possible partner.
