Football Governing Bodies

FIFA

Comment: FIFA is committed by its Statutes not only to the positive promotion of football through development programmes, but also to supervising international competitions and to safeguarding the sport and its good image against abuse of its rules and regulations. And FIFA sees to it that the game is played to one unified set of rules, the Laws of the Game, all over the world.

WFF

Comment: The World Football Foundation was founded as a non-profit organization on 23 Feb 1999 in Reykjavík, Iceland. The founding members are dedicated to the further development of football and to serve as an information source for the world's football supporters and a partner in the improvement of the conditions under which the sport is played.

CONMEBOL

Comment: The official site of Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol founded in 1916, including Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Site content (in Spanish) includes news, articles, competitions, results & fixtures, calendar of events

African Football Confederation (CAF)

Comment: This organisation was founded in 1957 by Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Africa. CAF now consists of all African national football associations which are members of FIFA and recognised by it as the official bodies controlling football in their respective countries.

CONCACAF

Comment: The official site of the FC, the Confederation of North, Central, American, and Caribbean Association Football, one of six FIFA world Confederations serving as the governing body of soccer in this part of the world. It is composed of 38 members, spanning from Canada in the north to Surinam in the south. The FC organizes competitions for national teams and clubs.

UEFA

Comment: One of UEFA's responsibilities as a confederation of world football's governing body FIFA is to organise and stage European competitions for clubs and national teams. In total, 13 competitions are currently organised by UEFA, with nine for national representative teams and four for clubs.

IGLFA

Comment: The International Gay and Lesbian Football Association fosters and augments the self respect of gay women and men throughout the world, and engenders respect and understanding from the non-gay world, through the medium of football (soccer).

AFC

Comment: The Asian Football Confederation was established in 1954 to promote and manage the development of professional football in the Asia-Pacific region. The Confederation is responsible for major Asian football events such as the Asian Cup for national teams, as well as the Asian Super Cup, the Club Championship and the Cup Winner's Cup for club teams throughout the region.

COSAFA

Comment: The official site of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations featuring news, results, history, regulations, Cosafa Castle Cup. Facilities on the site include audio & video, photographs, mailing lists, calendar and press releases. This web site has all the information to keep you right upto date.
