FIFA World Cup 2002

Comment: A useful collection of the big game fixtures, news stories and a number of online chat rooms so that you can provide your opinion on the World Cup 2002. Some interesting background information on the teams that have qualified and a good rundown on the history of World Cups past.

2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan

Comment: Broad coverage of most areas of the World Cup finals. Qualifying round details, final games schedules are all there, as are some history, stadium and host country details. Not a great deal of detail though. Some areas such as teams are obviously incomplete where as other areas such as previous WC's are very brief.

FIFA World Cup - Europe

Comment: UEFA's WC site is focused squarely on the Europeans, as you might expect. Good news coverage and plenty of detail on the team by team progression through the UEFA qualifiers. Not much history or player detail, though UEFA is probably not the logical organisation to cover these areas.

Time World Cup 2002

Comment: Some interesting stories with a bit more depth and coverage than your typical football news. Although on the downside it lacks a lot of the detail of other sites with no team specific coverage or even a fixture guide. Good special interest information, but not a lot else.

La Cancha

Comment: A football magazine site that has spent more time on setting up online merchandising than any actual content on the World Cup. A lot of aging World Cup related articles, many of them in Portuguese and Spanish if you need to work on your written comprehension, though not much else but shopping.

World Cup Site, The

Comment: A layout of the fixtures and how the various teams progressed to the Finals. Beyond that you are basically being offered the chance to buy a number of unofficial World Cup products. If you aren't into online shopping there's probably not a lot to interest you on this site.

Live Score

Comment: Live scores of all the World Cup games as they happen. Unfortunately we can't tell if it works yet. The site remains an option if you absolutely have to go to work and the boss won't switch the TV on. Of course the other option is to quit your job and actually watch the games on TV.
