Let's clear up the name first - it's a good luck thing that promises success to this restaurant, and why shouldn't it? Eight Over Eight is a gorgeous space with dark wood floors, light walls, oriental lampshades like
upside-down parasols, and eastern-influenced window coverings. It's much like E&O, its sister restaurant up in Notting Hill, in groovy minimalist style and mod-Japanese menu. The a la carte includes catagories like dim sum - don't miss the edamame with soy and mirin or the chilli salt squid -
futomaki rolls and sushi, tempura, roasts (like suckling pig), and special dishes like Eight Over Eight's own version of black cod with miso dressing. Desserts are inspired, including chocolate pudding with green tea ice cream, and lychee granita with mango steen. This is a very smart location for a
memorable meal.
