City Cafe - Birmingham

When the smart, sleek City Cafe went up in Birmingham a while back, hopes were high for a new destination to meet, dine, and hang out, City Cafe has surpassed them all. The very smart and light dining room, with its sleek lines and modern decor, is a terrific spot, as is the terrace outside on the piazza. The cuisine could be termed modern international. Try starter of seared Jamaican jerk hake with fried plantain and coconut sauce, main course of confit of rare breed Duroc pork with Cox's apple and thyme crust, grain mustard and mash, and pudding of Irish coffee mousse with mini doughnuts.
