Zoe was once on the very cutting edge of new American cuisine, with its Soho location, open kitchen, wood-burning oven, and all-American wine list. Now, though lesser establishments have followed suit and moved on to the next fashion, Zoe still holds fast to excellent principles and continues to be the best show in town if you're lucky enough to gain a table at the bar overlooking the kitchen. The smart
modern tile, wood, terra cotta and stone dining room is casual and impressive both. Dishes include starter of Zoe's own famous crispy calamari with Vietnamese dipping sauce, main course of slow-roasted
Peking duck with wild flower honey glaze, roasted apricots, sauteed Tuscan kale and honey-thyme jus, and dessert of milk chocolate panna cotta trifle with strawberries, chiffon cake and creme fraiche. The friendly, energetic service is a delight.
