Killiecrankie House Hotel

The Killiecrankie House is a friendly family-run hotel in Pitlochry, 30 miles from Perth. The location is stunning: the hotel overlooks the Pass of Killiecrankie, a deep, tree-lined river gorge formed by the River Garry cutting its way through the surrounding granite hills. Credentials are plentiful, with two Red Rosettes from the AA, an entry in the Good Food Guide and a place on the Scottish Chefs Association shortlist for 'Restaurant Chef of the Year' for Mark Easton. For starters, try the salad of smoked Rannoch duck breast with walnuts and orange dressing, then go for whole quail that's been roast, boned and stuffed with chicken and red onion mousse - it's to die for. Round things off with the vanilla pavlova with fresh fruit and mixed berry coulis.
