Salisbury's Grasmere Hotel lies on the banks of the rivers Nadder and Avon, and the Conservatory Restaurant gives you spectacular views over the hotel gardens, down to the rivers and across the water meadows to Salisbury Cathedral. Serving traditional English food with global influences, the restaurant offers a constantly-changing menu that genuinely revolves around the seasons. In Spring, mains could be rack of English lamb baked with locally farmed honey and mustard, served on minted couscous with a fresh rosemary and redcurrant jus: Autumn may offer breast of wood pigeon filled with a rabbit and pistachio mousse, served on lavender-scented root vegetables. Starters might include warm brioche filled with button mushrooms in a creamy Madeira and Dijon mustard sauce, while puddings range from the light (pineapple boat filled with fresh fruits) to the luscious (banoffee pie).
