Tucked away behind St Bart's Church and around the corner from Smithfield Market, if you look hard enough you will find Betjeman's. Named after Sir John Betjeman, the former poet Laureate who once lived above the restaurant, this place is a real gem. The restaurant comprises of two small but charming rooms with stripped wooden floors, old dark wood furniture and plain cream walls. While the décor is understated the food is anything but. We love the potted crayfish with poached quails egg to start; followed by the sausage & mash of the day. No meal here would be complete without trying the one of the delicious puddings and sampling some of the fantastic wines available by the bottle or by the glass.
