Maze by Gordon Ramsay, formerly The London Bar, in midtown New York's The London NYC Hotel is the brilliant brainchild of our own Gordon Ramsay, a place to enjoy exceptional cocktails and an adventurous dining experience. This is Manhattan styling at its best - designer David Collins uses greens and blues, leather, eastern-style murals and a noted lack of white table linens to create a space as relaxed as London, as smart as Manhattan. Open from breakfast til late, Maze New York offers tasting sized breakfast, tea and a la carte dishes, like carpaccio of tuna and swordfish with lime and cucumber marinade with soya dressing, or oven baked pork belly with Granny Smith apple, honey, lemon and thyme, or - in a tip of the hat to the US nursery palate -- peanut butter and cherry jam sandwich with salted nuts and cherry sorbet. Three to six plates make a meal, so you can really explore the bounds of the kitchen's imagination. Sourcing, presentation and service are impeccable. The ambience is coolly casual. Drinks like the Brick Lane or the Pimms Pom honour Blighty in, um, spirits.
