Lucky Manchester. It's the first city to gain a sibling of the superbly successful Leeds Thai restaurant, Chaophraya (pronounced chow-pie-a) The most impressive feature of this stunning two-floored space above Sam's Chop House on Chapel Walks is the huge art installation-like display of fresh sealife by the kitchen. The big, big menu features all the usual suspects alongside sizeable salads and filling, fragrant soups, but also six curries reflecting regional specialties. If in the mood for spice, order no.35, a red curry. And it gives way more than a nod to vegetarians. Presentation is second to none, and fabulous staff provide a brilliant, faultless service. Chaophraya is the kind of place that you can't wait to recommend to those who've yet to discover this Thai beauty.
