The Everest Restaurant in Edgware is a Nepalese restaurant that's aiming for the heights. Set right on the High Street a short walk from Edgware Station, Everest balances on the cusp of east and west. The décor is part neo-Tudor with leaded windows, beamed ceilings and half-timbered, rough-plastered walls, and part Nepalese/Indian with elaborately decorated seating, plasma screens running Indian programmes, and photos of the Himalayas. Everest's signature dish must surely be the Loly Pop chicken, though vegetarians would be in heaven here too, with everything accompanied by Nepalese beer. The wait staff serves with joie de vivre that's infectious.
