Apollo restaurant in Paris' southern reaches in Denfert Rochereau is a totally fab throwback to the poptastic Seventies. This great space was once the baggage-handing office of the local RER station, now transformed into a vast dining space and a pair of terraces besides. For those too young to remember, the Pop Art fashion of thirty years ago included rainbow colours, neo-Deco shapes and an air of playful flirtation. At Apollo, multi-coloured bubble lamps dangle over brightly patterned tables, mad room divider is filled with bright plastic kitchen utensils, and curved mirrors reflect the scene. The menu is global, with signature dishes of seven-hour roasted beef with cumin carrots, or sushi, or dessert of banana and pineapple with vanilla rum. The cool, young service is lots of fun and this is a fantastic spot to bring groups of mates.
