Coggeshall is infamous for having a disproportionate amount of murders per capita of population - something to do with the ley lines apparently. However, Baumann's Brasserie is a welcome provider of good value, well cooked food and is rightly popular with the local inhabitants - although the service can be a little slow. Coggeshall is a pretty village within easy reach of London - book yourself into the nearby White Heart Pub and make a weekend of it. What's cooking? Coconut Crab Cake with Pickled Cockles and Green Beans; Creamed Courgette, Basil and Brie Soup with crispy Nutmeg Croutons; Baumanns British Bangers with sticky cheese and bacon Mash; Summer Herb Pancakes filled with forest Mushrooms and Goats Cheese; Belguim Waffles with wipped cream and toffee Syrup; Orange Creme Crack with Brandy Snap Biscuits.
