FontanaRosa restaurant in Paris sounds like an Italian restaurant, but it's Sardinian to the roots of it soul. You'll be warmly greeted the moment you step through the door by patron Flavio Mascia, who, as it happens, is Sardinian to the roots of his soul, too. The dining room is a decorated in the earthy colours of terra cotta and umber, with a changing display of Med-themed artworks and plenty of greenery. But whenever the weather allows, diners head for the delightful terrace, a shady, secluded retreat that will transport you to the shores of the Mediterranean. It's Flavio who inspires the elaborate and inventive menu using the freshest seasonal ingredients in dishes like swordfish carpaccio with dried pressed grey mullet roe, celery and olive oil or calamari cassolette with tomatoes, garlic and herbs. And you may discover some excellent Sardinian wines along the way. The ambience here is 'joie de vivre'.
