Jodhpur Palace restaurant in Paris' 12th arrondissement is a charming, traditional Indian restaurant in a city that has far too few examples of this favourite British cuisine. Neither with Bollywood glamour nor local-curry scruff, Jodhpur Palace has rather colonial style and elegance. There's a long, light-filled cream-coloured dining room with a glassed-in terrace, ornately carved wooden bar area, Indian artworks and floral detailing and the smiling, focussed presence of professional waiters zooming around. Dishes include your favourite curries and tikkas, including chicken tikka massala, the British national dish. No beef, of course, but a good selection of vegetarian starters and fishy mains. Don't miss the chef's own Batera tandoori of marinated quail.
