Au Vieux Paris

Au Vieux Paris restaurant in the very heart of Paris, on the Ile de la Cite not two steps from Notre Dame has history and gastronomy in its favour. Patrons Odette and Georges bring their seasonal ingredients each week from the finest organic farms in the Aveyron in southern France to create dishes like warm foie gras, duck breast a l'orange, and other classics. The restaurant is sited in an Canon's residence constructed in 1512 and the décor - brilliantly over the top - reflects history in every detail, the heavily figured scarlet wallpaper and tented ceilings, the antique prints, the exposed stonework and rich draperies. Au Vieux Paris is terribly romantic -- you'll even have to stroll by the Seine to get home.
