Au Petit Marguery

Le Petit Marguery restaurant in Paris' Port-Royal quarter has the soul of a traditional French neighbourhood restaurant of a century ago. The mirrors and columns, fresh flowers, the layers of white table linen, the long-aproned waiters in their waistcoats and bow ties, the dark rose colour scheme create a cosy, comfortable and quite smart milieu. All that's missing is the rack where regulars might have kept their cloth napkins. The French cuisine is traditional, too, with a daily-changing menu with emphasis on the freshest foods of the market. Dishes might include, according to seasonal and daily specials, rabbit terrine with foie gras of duck, pike cooked with saffron en papillote with baby veg, ile flottante with crème anglaise and pralines. The fine wine list concentrates on the grands vins.
