The Garden Room at the Mollington Banastre Hotel near Chester is a welcome escape from the daily grind. Overlooking the extensive hotel grounds, the light and airy formal dining room, set inside the historic 19th century manor house, has a stylish, modern interior - with chocolate brown carpets, crisp white linens and cream walls - which reflects the contemporary international menu. Signature dishes include the char-grilled asparagus served with a lemon and herb butter sauce; the medallions of pork with boulangere potatoes, baby vegetables, spinach and apple jus; and the delectable warm plum sponge accompanied with clotted cream. The Garden Room has a reasonably priced wine list, and the hotel Lounge Bar is perfect for elegant pre/post dinner drinks.
