Gaelic Games to Boost Ulster Tourism

Gaelic games should be promoted as a tourist attraction, according to two leading academics.

Unique Irish sports offer a great way to attract foreign visitors, but are being under used.

Adrian and Frances Devine, both lecturers in leisure and tourism at the University of Ulster, think the Gaelic Athletics Association (GAA) product needs to be properly exploited.

"All Gaelic games are amateur, drug-free and family-orientated – admirable qualities in today's sporting arena," the husband and wife team told the Belfast Telegraph.

Mr and Mrs Devine would like to see Gaelic sports do for Ireland what kickboxing does for Thailand or what bull fighting does for Spain.
