Glasgow Airport Gets Rail Link

Glasgow airport has just received the blessing from the BAA to proceed with the £210 million rail link.

The link will run from Glasgow Central to the airport and is expected to be completed by 2010.

Transport minister Tavish Scott said: "The agreement that has now been reached moves the project forward, and I am pleased that BAA is on side."

The BAA is the last objector standing, since original opposition British Transport Police and others withdrew their objections last month.

BAA opposed the link in practice because of the rail construction's need to buy BAA land to carry it out.

The airport was concerned about expansion measures being hindered by the rail construction.
